Festival 56, a professional non-equity summer theater in Princeton, Illinois (located 2 hours southwest of Chicago) announces auditions for their summer season.
The season includes:
Hairspray
Rehearsals: 6/12 – 6/26
Performances: 6/27 – 7/5 (no performances 7/4)
Carrie: the Musical
Rehearsals: 6/18 – 7/10
Performances: 7/11 – 7/20
Disney’s The Little Mermaid
Rehearsals: 7/3 – 7/24
Performances: 7/25 – 8/3
A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Free Shakespeare in the Park)
Rehearsals: 6/18 – 7/5
Performances: 7/6 – 7/30
Performers of all ethnicities, physical types, gender identities are encouraged to audition.
A Princeton Local Audition Day (high school, college, and adult actors with local housing) will be held on Saturday March 8, 2025, from 11 am to 6 pm at The Prouty-Zearing Community Building 435 S. Main St.

Also, please bring a musical theatre selection (16-32 bars). Singing music from shows within the season is welcome, but not required. If you would like to be considered for the Shakespeare in the Park, monologues from Midsummer will be provided for you to read from. There will be a short dance/movement combo for this audition. Please bring comfortable clothes and shoes to dance.
**For those unable to attend in-person auditions, video submissions will be accepted until February 28, 2025
- 16-32 bars of a musical theatre song (music from within the season is welcome)
- 1 minute of a Shakespeare monologue (verse preferred)
